The breakup took me by complete surprise. It shouldn’t have, I should have seen that we were no longer a couple, but that’s always the way, isn’t it? If you make the best of anything, then the worst comes as a shock. Even so, I’m a pretty adaptable person but how does one make the best of being suddenly single when ‘happily settled’ was assumed?
I remember when my daughter was young and I had the luxury of not having to work full time, I would often go visit a friend that had two young boys of her own. The first thing we would do in the morning (after the children were fed, clothed and entertained for a few minutes) was slip outside to smoke a joint. Gasp! What awful mothers, right?
In reality, those turned out to be some of the most fun, most adventuresome, greatest bonding moments I had with my daughter in her early years.
A few months back when a favorite glass pipe of mine—made by Hippo from Squamish, BC—started to show cracks and signs of some, let’s say, heavy usage I was pleasantly surprised to hear from many of my friends that it could be fixed. After all, this was a glass pipe; I thought once they start to crack and break they’re done, finished, and garbage. Seems that’s not the case anymore with many Canadians telling me they knew someone taking up the craft of glass-blowing.
The Skeptics Guide to the Universe
Friday through to Sunday was a bit of a grind. Not only were we time constrained by the conference but we were only starting our hunt for the illusive Aussie ‘Hydro.’ I was dragging my arse some; it’d been five days with another one skipped into the future. We’d experienced sunburn, jet lag, driving on the left, heavy traffic and time constraints. Yeah, it’s been a grind…and I’ve loved every bit of it. As they say here in Oz, ‘swt-az’ (a drawn out, slightly mumbled, ‘sweet-ass.’)
And just like that Three Happy Cats were off to Australia for a month. One of us was a regular visitor to Oz but it’s a bucket list first for this tomcat.
Travel-time to Sydney, NSW from Vancouver, BC is around 15 hours of flight. I was well-prepared for the trip with a very heavy dose of cannabis-infused edibles. I was also advised to pick up a good neck pillow—and I’m glad I did. A fleece blanket/throw also helped in getting comfortable and being able to sleep on the plane.
Prohibition and Proceeds of Crime legislation have gone together for a long time. But forfeiture has developed into an important issue recently in British Columbia, according to advocates in the BCCLA. Some BC residents who grow marijuana on property they own might be surprised by the Brave New Province they find themselves farming in.
Time Travel, three chairs, and bush weed
Finally, the day has come to begin our journey to Australia. We are heading to Sydney first, to attend the (30th annual) Australian skeptics national convention
convention.skeptics.com.au I am very excited to be having Opus420 and Mr. Vancity attending with me. The marijuana community meets the skepticism community, oh the experiment begins – November 24, 2014
When asked to write for this website I had an idea of what I was getting into but once I reached the location of the photo shoot for Twelve High Chicks the experience became much more real. I’ve always been curious of what a photo shoot would be like, photography being an interest of mine, and here was my chance to see firsthand.
It’s that time of year again when the trees start losing leaves and scarves, mitts and warm jackets start making appearances on the streets of Vancouver. Almost 8,000 kilometers away in Amsterdam the weather may be similar but it also marks a celebration that marijuana aficionados worldwide look forward to… The Annual High Times Cannabis Cupwhich will be held November 23-27, 2014.
My grandmother and my great-grandmother were fixtures in my house when I was growing up. Because of their experiences living through the Great Depression I learned an important lesson at an early age, “waste not want not.” Though spoken to me almost 30 years back these words could not be any more true today, and that’s why I love vaporizers.
Vancouver isn’t known for its blue skies—not when there’s so much rain to talk about—but its summers have their moments and this past August offered some perfect days. One of which was the day of the Kush Cup cruise. Perfect day, not so perfect event. But the people and the pot were just right.
